Civil War follows a group of journalists that travel cross-country in an alternate future where the United States is at war with itself in modern times. It is definitely one of the more polarizing films I’ve seen this year, and its political undertones, along with its gruesome imagery, may be hard to watch for some. However, this film very much worked as a thriller because of those reasons, with every uneasy moment and set piece throughout the film more intense than the last and a narrative that is just as much character driven as it is action driven. Whether or not this film makes you do a double take at the current state of our country, I still think it is worth a watch. Score: 8/10
