The original Inside Out film is undoubtedly one of Pixar’s best, both in terms of animation and emotionally resonant storytelling. Of course, if a sequel were to ever be made, it would have a lot to live up to. This is especially considering that Pixar’s more recent films, while solid, haven’t been on the same level of their greats. However, while it wasn’t as powerful as the original, I’m happy to report that Inside Out 2 is the first film we’ve gotten from Pixar in a while that’s come close to the top-tier quality that Pixar is known for. Following a new narrative of Riley becoming a teenager, the introduction of new emotions such as Anxiety, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Envy, as well as the introduction of new emotional concepts such as belief systems and your sense of self, ensured that audiences got an emotionally meaningful story that people of all ages can most likely relate to, all while being bolstered by well-written comedic gags and incredible animation. Score: 9/10
