It is very seldom that you come across a film, whether animated or live-action, that changes the way you see the world. However, I had the pleasure of seeing one of those films today when it comes to The Wild Robot. DreamWorks tries its hand at a heartfelt story that shows the contrast between nature and technology reminiscent of other animated greats such as Wall-E and The Iron Giant, where we see a robot finding its home in the forest amongst its creatures. The incredible animation and the endearing characters made sure every moment of this film remained captivating and that every tug at the heartstrings felt earned. There were even some impressive action set pieces thrown into the mix. Some of my favorite films are the ones in which characters discover sentiments such as home and family in the unlikeliest of places, and this film is probably one of the best examples of this trope done right. Even if animation isn’t your thing, I cannot recommend this movie enough. As a matter of fact, the film ended up being so moving, I actually felt bad for the roadkill I passed on the way home from the movie theater. If that’s not the mark of a 10/10 film, I don’t know what is. Score: 10/10
