Exhibiting Forgiveness is definitely a film you don’t want to let fly over your radar. Along with the Oscar worthy performances from Andre Holland, Andra Day, and the rest of the cast, the film’s story following an estranged father trying to reconnect with his artist son is a deeply moving exploration of generational trauma that uses its well-written dialogue, introspective pacing, and the art that our protagonist creates to paint its captivating narrative. (Pun intended.) Other than the story being relatively predictable in terms of its themes and outcome, that didn’t stop it from being a powerful work of art that deserves to be seen. Score: 9/10
