Kraven the Hunter is reportedly going to be the last of Sony’s standalone Spider-Man films, and after giving this a watch, I think that’s probably for the best. That’s not to say that the film didn’t show promise. The performances from the cast were decent, the action was brutal enough to warrant the film’s R-rating, and there are many references to Spider-Man canon that are striking enough to have fans such as myself raise an eyebrow. However, the film’s pacing, dialogue choices and special effects really brought this movie down for me. The cast absolutely did the best job they did with what they were given, but here’s to hoping that Sony understands that making Spider-Man films without Spider-Man doesn’t exactly yield the best results. Score: 4/10
