A few years following its previous release in 2022, the Jurassic Park franchise returns with a new cast of characters, a new island, and a new plethora of genetically engineered dinosaurs for our characters to battle. This seventh installment in the franchise follows a group of mercenaries and scientists going to a remote island to collect the DNA samples of dinosaurs that were rejected from the original Jurassic Park to create a cure for a variety of medical illnesses. Admittedly, the plot is fairly predictable, featuring story beats that we’ve seen before from this franchise and others. There’s also many plot details and conveniences throughout that you really have to suspend your disbelief for. However, between the thrilling action set pieces, as well as the impressively terrifying design choices and special effects utilized for the new genetically altered dinos, it’s quite difficult to not be entertained watching this flick. This is especially true if you are a fan of the franchise, despite the film’s formulaic plot points. Score: 7/10
