Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is the third installment in this franchise that follows a group of vigilante magicians called the Four Horseman that use their tricks and sleight of hand to execute elaborate heists, taking down corrupt corporations in the process. Although the plots of first two films aren’t the most riveting or thought provoking, I still think this franchise has been judged far too harshly by critics considering its entertainment value. This installment is no different, this time adding three new characters (Bosco, June, and Charlie) to our cast of returning magicians from previous films (Atlas, Merritt, Jack, Henley, and Lula). Once again, this film doesn’t exactly do anything narratively mind-blowing. As a matter of fact, the story of our team of magic users taking down a corrupt businesswoman in possession of a precious diamond is definitely a story beat we’ve seen before. However, this unironically ended up being the best film in the franchise thanks to the chemistry between the new and returning characters, as well as the twists and turns that this franchise has become synonymous with. The characters’ personalities mesh together surprisingly well, and the tricks they pull in combat or to execute a heist is always fun to watch. Honestly, even if you’re not too familiar with this franchise and its characters, it’s still quite entertaining, and if they decided to make a fourth installment to this franchise, I wouldn’t be mad at it. Score: 7/10
