Tim Burton’s original 1988 classic, Beetlejuice, wowed audiences with its interesting concepts and imagery regarding the afterlife, its unique blend of wacky comedy and grotesque horror, and an undeniably fun performance from Michael Keaton as the title character. This legacy sequel had those elements, including fantastic performance from new and returning cast members from the original film that returned to their roles as if they never left them, with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Jenna Ortega being the standouts. I will say that multiple subplots stopped this film from being as great as it could’ve been, especially compared to the original film that kept its plot relatively simple, but there is definitely enough here for fans of the original and newcomers to enjoy. Score: 7/10
